U.S. Gymnastics National Championship– The Road to Beijing




The U.S. National Gymnastics Championships were televised this weekend. Five of the girls are potential U.S. gymnastics Olympic hopefuls.

Shawn Johnson won the national title. At 16, she could definitely be in contention for an Olympic title. She makes no bones about wanting to hold an all-around Olympic gymnastics title.

Other gymasts in the top five were Nastia Liukin, Ivana Hong, Shayla Worley and Alicia Sacramore.

One year and many controversies to go




With one year to go, China will now probably see a great increase in controversies. Now the world is really watching. So, whether it’s “Bird’s Nestartist Ai Weiwei disassociating itself from the Olympics over concerns about human rights violations or product recalls, China is going to have to step up its public relations game. Hopefully, part of that game will include actual changes being made in areas that need improvement.

364 Days and Counting to the 2008 Summer Olympics




Yesterday marked the beginning of the one year countdown to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. There were big ceremonies in Beijing commemorating the beginning of the countdown to the 8/8/08 start for the Beijing Olympics (yes, they will be starting at 8 p.m.). The venues seem to be on track for on time completion. I really can’t believe it’s only a year. I guess I’ll have to start writing more regularly here :)
